Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony's Split: What Went Wrong?

Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony announced their surprising split on Friday". After seven years of marriage, the parents of 3-year-old twins Max and Emme made the difficult decision to end their marriage.

Jennifer Lopez and husband Marc Anthony reportedly split just hours before the pop diva met royal newlyweds Prince William and Kate Middleton at a gala dinner in Los Angeles last weekend, according to reports.  The couple waited several days before announcing their divorce in a statement

"We have come to an amicable conclusion on all matters," Lopez, 40, and Anthony, 42, said in a joint statement. "It is a painful time for all involved, and we appreciate the respect of our privacy at this time."

And although media outlets are reporting ,“The split is far from amicable, although they do hope to be friends in the future. 

Behind the scenes it’s a very different story. They are barely on speaking terms, and only converse to talk about their children.  "Marc is very controlling. In the beginning she liked that because he stood up to her and in the early days but now it's over bearing.

  And if that's not awkward enough the two had signed on to do an upcoming reality show Media mogul Simon Fuller wanted the pair to front  Latina targeted Q’Viva! The Chosen. Officially it’s still all systems go. 

XIX Entertainment confirms to E! that ¡Q'viva! The Chosen will continue production as scheduled. "Both Jennifer and Mark are committed to the ¡Q'viva!  project and will work on it as planned," a rep for XIX says. "The show goes on!"

Just because they couldn't make it work at home, doesn't mean they can't make it work on the TV screen!  This will be Mar Anthony second divorce and he has two kids by his first wife.  This will be Jennifer Lopez third divorce.

 Lopez’s mother has been supporting her daughter since her marriage crumbled — she took Anthony’s place on the red carpet to meet the royals.
